Abstract
Pigmented villonodular synovitis is a kind of benign inflammatory lesion involving synovial membrane, formed by accumulation of cholesterol and hemosiderin with numerous cleftings of synovial membrane.
The patient was a 43 -years old male who had complained marked swelling and tenderness over the lateral aspect of the left ankle. The tumor mass was yellowish brown in color, elastic and soft in consistency.
Still the direct cause of this lesion is not clearly known but chronic stimulation to synovitis is accepted as a etiologic factor.
In this paper, we report one case of pigmented villonodular synovitis in ankle joint, which were diagnosed and treated in our department.
